Everyday dinnerware that looks anything but. These plates stay true to our neutral, rustic aesthetic and come in our Crema, Tierra, and Speckled Sand tones, allowing you to mix and match your other tableware and make for a classic, understated backdrop for your dinnertime creations. Our Stoneware pieces are fired at exceptionally high heat, making them robust. These plates will last years of knife scraping, dishwashing, and family gatherings. They’re oven and microwave safe too!

Each piece is hand-thrown to bring out slight variations. It takes approximately a week from start to finish by a group of 7 artisans in their Tonalá, pueblo workshop. The area is known as the heart of Mexican ceramic heritage.

Care

As with all unglazed ceramics, rinse or wash immediately at each use to avoid staining or discoloration. Dishwasher and Microwave Safe.

The Craft

Each piece is hand-throw on a wheel. It takes one week from start to finish. The clay is a custom blend of various powders (native to the region) to create a raw matte exterior and neutral color palette.

The clay is mixed by foot and is then kneaded before throwing each piece by hand. The piece dries in the sun for a couple of days before its stamped, glazed inside and outside and then fired in the kiln for a half a day.
